Home Pride Update XXXV – Products Appearing

Former Hostess products and current Flowers Foods products are starting to appear on the shelves here in California.

However, the one product that I would like to see has yet to make an appearance. I assume that it will be at least another month before I can expect to see Home Pride Bread. However, it will probably be longer. I will be keeping my eye out for news.

So what products have been appearing?

Twinkies - Hostess Twinkies - First Batch - Sweetest Comback in the History of Ever

Twinkies are starting to appear again, but are in short supply. I have only seen them on the shelves twice and bought the last box both times. I have seen news articles talking about how the demand is much greater than the supply even with all the bakeries producing at full capacity. I talked to a friend who works at a grocery store, and she said that they disappear as soon as they put out the displays.

Hostess Display - donnettes - fruit pies - Return of Hostess - Twinkies

Here were all that was left of Hostess products at the end of the day at my local supermarket. Just some donettes and fruit pies.

Hostess Fruit Pies - Apple Pie - Cherry Pie - Twinkies Shortage - Sweetest Return

I picked up two Fruit Pies. I will take them to work next week as a snack. I am thinking about which one I will try first. Probably the Apple, as it was my favorite when growing up.

Tastykake - mini donuts - Snack Cakes - Flowers Foods - New Products

I have also started to see some of the products from Flowers Foods’ snack cake division in the stores as well. Here we see some Tastykake Mini Donuts at the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market. I am hoping to see some of the other Tastykake products. I want to try the Kandy Kakes and Krimpets.

Nature's Own Bread - Flowers Foods - Bread Display - Honey Wheat Bread

On the bread front, I am seeing more stores with Nature’s Own bread. This week I went with the 100% Whole Wheat.

Sara Lee Display - Nature's Own Buns - Hot Dog Buns - Hamburger Buns - Shelf Shortage

The bread companies are all fighting for display space and hear we see Flowers Foods utilizing a Sara Lee display for their Nature’s Own Hot Dog and Hamburger buns. Sara Lee is distributed by Flowers Foods in California, but they should not be using a Sara Lee display for Nature’s Own.

Which Hostess product have you been waiting for?

Steven

I purchased Natures Own Honey Wheat bread in a supermarket on Long Island, New York, $3.99 a loaf. Found it to be as good as the Home Pride Butter Wheat. Will continue to buy this bread even if Home Pride comes back on the shelves.
