Earlier this week I posted that Home Pride Bread had a new owner: Home Pride Update XXXIII – New Owner
In the post I mentioned that along with the bread brands Flowers Foods also acquired 20 bakeries and 36 depots. However, I searched and searched and could not find a news report that listed where the 20 bakeries were. I wanted to know if any of them were near me.
Of course, I continued to wander around the internet and finally found a document that listed the location of the bakeries.

I found a website that has copies of the different bankruptcy court documents related to Old HB, Inc, including the bill of sale for the assets that Flowers Foods purchased from Hostess.
In the document I found a list of the Plants or bakeries that Flowers Foods purchased.
The picture above shows the nearest of the bakeries that Flowers Foods is getting in the deal with Hostess. This plant is in Sacramento and is only about 75 miles away. I hope that it is one of the first bakeries to start back with production of Home Pride bread.
Here is a list of the cities where the 20 bakeries that Flowers Foods has purchased are located:
- Birmingham, AL
- Sacramento, CA
- Denver, CO
- Jacksonville, FL
- Orlando, FL
- Waterloo, IA
- Hodgkins, IL
- Peoria, IL
- Columbus, IN
- Lenexa, KS
- Alexandria, LA
- Biddeford, ME
- Boonville, MO
- Rocky Mount, NC
- Henderson, NV
- Northwood, OH
- Tulsa, OK
- Knoxville, TN
- Memphis, TN
- Ogden, UT
I will not list the location of all the depots that they purchased, but will mention that one of them is in the Bay Area.
When I look at the list I see that about half of the bakeries are either outside or near the borders of Flowers Foods current distribution area. They will be able to expand their distribution area once they integrate the new plants into their system and re-open them for production.
I am really looking forward to when the caption in the picture above will be true for Home Pride bread.
If you like the two older illustrations in this post, you may want to check out the post where I originally used them: Baking Bread
The post has details of the book where I found them.
Oh, you want to know what bread I am currently trying? It is still Nature’s Own Butter Top, which is not as good as the Honey Wheat 🙂
Steven

Fingers crossed it will be soon, Steven!
I have my new box of Twinkies. Ya-hoo!!!!
