Flowers Foods now has regulatory approval to complete the acquisition of some of the Hostess Brand assets!!
One of my readers commented on my 50,000 Views post with the information that Flowers Foods had released the news.
The news media has also picked up on the news and information is starting to flow.
In their press release Flowers Foods stated that they expected to close the transaction in the coming weeks. They will acquire 20 bakeries, 36 depots and the bread brands. Finally we are a step closer to the return of Home Pride Bread.
July has definitely been a big month for news about the products of the former Hostess Brands. The company that bought the snack cakes also must have bought the rights to use the name Hostess as they are now known as Hostess Brands. In their press release Flowers Foods refers to the former company as Old HB, Inc.
If you have been waiting for Twinkies, you have only six more days to wait. They are scheduled to reappear on July 15.
OK, I must admit that this picture is a bit of a cheat. This is one of the Twinkie Wannabes. I am still up in the air about whether I will buy some Twinkies next Monday when they return to the shelves. Of course, they may not make it all the way out here to California. We will know next week 🙂 I would more likely buy a package of Zingers. I like them better than Twinkies.
I also learned, from another comment, that Flowers Foods will start distributing Nature’s Own at California Safeways next week. I hope that this is the case as I am eager to try some of their other bread types, especially their Honey Wheat bread. I have only tried their Butterbread. They have a lot of promising varieties and I am also eager to try out their Sandwich Rounds.
Hopefully we will see a lot more news in the next few weeks about the plans for returning Home Pride Bread to the shelves.
Now that regulatory approval has been announced they can start to make and share their plans.
How much longer will we have to wait?
Steven

We were disappointed with Nature’s Own. It’s fine, but it’s no Homepride. Thanks for the posts! We’re still crossing fingers that Flowers will revive HP. We fear they will just opt to expand production & distribution of pre-existing brands…but they haven’t made any converts in our household.
Waiting for my Twinkies …….. thanks for the update!!!
