Montezuma’s Revenge

Another short post today, as I am still not feeling the best. What I thought was simply dehydration yesterday is actually a bug of some sort. Fortunately, here in Mexico, most companies have an on-site doctor. I am now on a couple different medicines and feeling much better. My fever has also dropped in the last hour and I am ready for what will hopefully be a good night of sleep.

Since this type of illness is typically called Montezuma’s Revenge, I thought of this picture.

Mexico City - Templo Mayor - Metropolitan Cathedral - Jacaranda Tree - Archaeology - Montezuma's Revenge - Spanish - Aztec

Here we have the ruins of Templo Mayor in the foreground and the Metropolitan Cathedral in the background. The Templo Mayor was burnt and destroyed the year after the death of Montezuma and houses for several of the Spanish leaders were built on top of the ruins. The Metropolitan Cathedral is built on top of other Aztec ruins as are many of the early Spanish churches.

Today Montezuma has his revenge on not only travelers to Mexico, but also the citizens. Several of my students were not feeling well last week as it seems a bug is going around.
