I have been thinking of Shanghai today. Partly because of my post from yesterday, and also because I participated in a video conference with colleagues in Shanghai earlier today.
This evening, I am going to share two pictures that were taken on Shanghai nights.
The first picture is from the Yuyuan Garden area in Old City Shanghai. I love the way that the buildings are lit up in this area. In the Yuyuan Tourist Mart there are a lot of shops where you can find almost anything you want to buy and also many restaurants. I had some wonderful dumplings there, but that is another story.
The second picture is from Nanjing Road.
Nanjing Road is the main shopping street in Shanghai. The shopping area is more than three miles long and attracts more than a million visitors daily. At night the area teems with tourists and you can see many street performers and street vendors. There are also many different restaurants to savor, as well as street food that will test your guts.
The picture shows one of my favorite sights on Nanjing Road. The neon lights on this corner are constantly changing. The whole street is full of bright lights and has one of the highest concentrations of neon lights that I have seen around the world.
I hope you enjoyed this brief look at two Shanghai nights.

WOW, it’d be like Christmas all year round, beautiful. I watched an amazing race episode where they had to eat all kinds of stuff from street vendors, I think it may have be Shanghai…they had deep fried scorpians…yum yum (BTW that’s sarcastic)
Sorry, I hate to be a wet blanket, but was considering how many hungry people could be fed with the cost of their electric bill??
