I wonder how many people will be taking pictures at King’s Cross station while they are in London for the Olympics?
When I was last in London, the Hotel that I staying at was just a few blocks from King’s Cross, so I took a short walk there on the night I arrived to take these two pictures.
Even though it was late in the evening there were people that were posing with this luggage cart. Of course, you can tell by the sign above it that it is meant to be the hidden entrance to the secret platform 9¾ made famous by the Harry Potter books and movies. It was funny to watch people take pictures. Some were trying to make it look like they were running while pushing the cart. Others were simply taking group photos in front of the sign. I even took a few pictures for people who wanted to include their whole group in their shot.
If you go to King’s Cross today, you will find the sign and cart in a different place. They have made major renovations to the station since I was there. Unfortunately, the new location does not have the picturesque arch around the sign.
I was back at King’s Cross two days later to take a train north to Welwyn Garden City, the location of my next training course. Unfortunately, that course was not held at Hogwarts, so I did not get to enter through the wall to the secret platform and take the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade station. Instead I took an ordinary train from platform 9.
