Today I will share two pictures from the Antarctic cruise that I took two years ago. I had planned on sharing the first picture yesterday, but got sidetracked.
I always like taking pictures that have reflections in them. I love to look for water, glass or other reflective surfaces that show reflections. Sometimes I get good pictures, but other times I am disappointed with the results. I am very happy with the results of these two pictures.
The first picture is from Ushuaia, Argentina. I took this picture as we were docking at the port and getting ready for our day of adventure.
I love the snow covered mountains in the background. Also the brightly colored buildings along the shore and their reflections in the water. Then we have the numerous little boats in the foreground that are also casting reflections. A beautiful little scene. Whenever I look at this picture it brings back nice memories of my day in Ushuaia.
Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, and is the point of departure for many Antarctic expeditions.
My second picture was taken just after we had visited Paradise Bay, Antarctica and had set sail toward Ushuaia.
Here we see one of the islands in the Palmer Archipelago reflected in the windows of the cruise ship. I was just going back inside after trying to capture pictures of whales when I noticed this great reflection. I love the peaceful serenity of the water and the contrast of the blues and whites. The water was calm as it was for most of our trip through Antarctic waters. We later learned that previous cruises had very rough water and were unable to visit some of the places on their itinerary. We were thankful for the calm waters.
I hope you enjoyed these reflections, they bring back good memories for me.
Steven.
