No Jury Duty

Back in February I received a jury summons for the court in Stockton, which is the county seat of San Joaquin County.

The date for the summons was while I was to be in Australia, so I asked for a postponement of my service. The new date given to me was for April 6 when I was to be back home.

Of course a lot has happened since that initial jury summons.

The new courthouse in on the right and the old courthouse is to the left. I had heard that the jury room was on one of the upper floors of the building and had great views of the city. The jury room in the old courthouse was in the basement.

Over the past couple weeks I have been watching to see if jury service for next week was cancelled and finally today the news came that it was.stockton court house, jury duty, stockton california, trial, covid 19I had also been looking forward to taking pictures of the new courthouse, but since I will not be going to Stockton I decided to take a virtual walk with Google Maps and snag some pictures out of the street views.

Instead next week I will be again working from home as I shelter in place. I already have several meetings scheduled for Monday as we use this time to get caught up on documentation and presentations. It is also busy as there is a lot of administrative work for on-line learning which is all of a sudden getting utilized more.

Keep safe out there,

Steven

PBJ Day

Did you know that today was National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day?

home pride wheat, pbj, peanut butter, jam, jellyOf course a PBJ starts out with the right bread. For me that is Home Pride Butter Top Wheat bread.

jif peanut butter, pbj, breadThen you need to make sure you have the right peanut butter. I always have a jar of JIF Creamy Peanut Butter on my counter. It is the best peanut butter for a good PBJ.

Smucker's Strawberry Jam, Family Jam, SmuckerI am going to cheat a little bit here and have jam instead of jelly.

Of course that means some Smucker’s Strawberry Jam.

There is a very good reason to choose Smucker’s. My great great grandfather Jeremiah Yoder was a second cousin of Ella Yoder the wife of the founder Jerome Monroe Smucker. I am also related to J.M. Smucker, but only a 4th cousin.

Since Jif is also a Smucker’s brand it makes for a good combination.

pbj, sandwich, peanut butter, jam, smuckersHere are the two pieces of bread spread with the sandwich fillings.

pbj, sandwich, peanut butter, jam, smuckersOf course the two halves must go together and my PBJ is ready to eat.

Of course the first bite was delicious. Memories of childhood PBJ’s came to mind as I enjoyed my sandwich.

Did you have a PBJ today?

Steven
