Busy Year on Oak Island

So far it has been a busy year on Oak Island despite the early season restrictions they had because of COVID-19.

Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything? The large scale projects they had planned are not necessarily going forward, although they are draining the swamp again.

oak Island, Money Pit, Mahone BayThere has been a lot of surface excavation with metal detecting and more classic archaeological digs sites. It has been interesting to see finds and hear the theories behind them.

This week they talked about an old Chinese coin. Of course when they found it recently I immediately knew what it was, just not how old. It seems that it in indeed very old and could have been something kept as a good luck charm that was lost at one time.

Curse of Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Nova ScotiaThey also have a drilling program in the money pit area, but it was refocused to look for a possible tunnel based on analysis of an old map. Is the treasure actually hidden in another part of the island?

Did they find an old slipway this week? Perhaps we will find out more soon.

The preview for next week shows digging in the swamp and it looks like more possible finds from the time of the Templars.

They have been really talking about this theory this year, so perhaps they are building a story of what is to be revealed. ???

Nova Scotia, Oak Island, AcadiansI have also seen some other rumors floating around. There is of course the curse that calls for another death before things are found. There is a rumor that one of the members of the team who used to post to social media is no longer posting. Some have come up with the idea that perhaps something happened to him. I seriously doubt this, but the rumor is out there.

In any case, they continue to keep people interested in the show as they slowly show finds and explore theories to keep it interesting.

Will they find anything, or will we still be watching this years from now 🙂

Late Year Sunset

This afternoon when I went to the mailbox I looked to the sky and it looked like we would probably have a nice sunset tonight.

wispy clouds, winter sky, clearing skysTo the east we had some wispy clouds. In the morning it had been overcast and dark, but it cleared up throughout the day.

scattered clouds, sunset hope, california sky, winter skyTo the west there were more scattered clouds and these were the ones that promised a nice sunset.

sunset, eastern, clouds, winter sunsetWhen I went out later I looked again to the east and it looked like the sunset was in the wrong direction. This is very common to see what I call a backset. I believe that is because of the distance we are from the hills to the west. The hills block some of the wavelengths of light that would normally light up the clouds to the east.

late year sunset, red sky, grey skyLooking to the west the sky was much more colorful and a true sunset.

winter sunset, end of year sunset, colorfufl skyAs the sun continued to go down the sky got a bit more colorful.

A nice beautiful sunset as the year is drawing to a close. We often get nice sunsets in winter as it is our rainy season.

Just a few more days of the year. I have two more days of work and then it is time to reflect on the past year and look forward to the next one.
