Paradise Bay Antarctica

Tonight I have been thinking about Antarctica, as this morning I heard from a friend who was on the cruise my sister and I were on many years ago.

Here are some pictures from Paradise Bay, which is the furthest south I have been.

Lots of memories, and I am already feeling cooler after a hot day.

English Breakfasts

Earlier this week I was looking through some pictures from a trip to England, and found some pictures of English breakfasts.bacon, eggs, potatoes, beans, full english breakfast A typical full English breakfast will have back bacon, eggs, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, baked beans, black pudding, sausage and toast.

Of course there is always some variation in what is served.

bacon, eggs, potatoes, beans, full english breakfastThese first two pictures come from the same hotel restaurant and you can see some minor day to day differences.

This was from a pretty nice hotel, so there was a bit more care in the plating.

bacon, eggs, potatoes, beans, full english breakfastThis one was actually from a self serve buffet in a less expensive chain hotel. However, it still has elements of the full English breakfast.

In most places I have been, the potatoes in a full English breakfast are hash browns.

bacon, eggs, potatoes, beans, full english breakfastHere is another breakfast from the hotel at the airport. To me, these are the essentials in a full English breakfast. Bacon, beans, eggs, hash browns (potato wedges) and sausage.

Not shown in any of the pictures in the post is the toast that is served on the side. Typically the toast is eaten at the end of the meal.

The full English breakfast is definitely different than the Continental breakfast you see in much of Europe.
