Long Ago in Weimar, Germany

The title of this post has a couple meanings. First, it contains pictures from a long ago visit to Weimar during my first trip to Germany about 20 years ago. The pictures are low resolution as they were early digital pictures that were saved on diskettes.

Second, they are all plaques, signs and monuments for people who were in Weimar long ago. You may recognize some of the names.

weimar, lived there, weimar people. zeiss, bach, Liszt, LutherI will start with one that is very important to me. Carl Zeiss lived in Weimar when he was young. He was born there in 1816. This sign is on the house where he spent his youth.

I like wandering through towns in Germany and reading the signs on houses that show where famous people lived.

There were a lot of famous people who lived in Weimar for part of their life.

Old Digital Pictures of Wartburg

Tonight I am sharing some old digital pictures of Wartburg, Germany.

I was using a camera that saved the pictures on a diskette, so the resolution is not too good. I took these pictures back in the late 90’s during one of my first trips to Germany.

Wartburg is a castle in Eisenach, Germany and is on the World Heritage List. The castle is steeped in history.

There were some interesting events from the Reformation that took place in the castle.

Do you know who took refuge at Wartburg after the Diet of Worms?
