Wednesday Image Search – Yea

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

After searching for ‘tea’ last week I will search for ‘yea’ this week.

What images will I find?Brady Bunch - Bobby and Cindy - Growing up Brady - 1970's PicturesThe first image is of my friend Cindy and I from one of our school pictures. We grew up in the Brady Bunch years.

absalom leeper, mt. pleasant, 108 years oldThe second image is a clipping from a newspaper. The facts are not quite correct, but it states that my 4th Great Grandfather Absalom Leeper lived to the age of 108 years. He actually was only 97 when he passed away, but that is a different story to tell.

Area Shocked by death of President Kennedy - 50 Year Anniversary - JFK - John F. KennedyHere we have another newspaper clipping about the death of President Kennedy. I used this in a post about the 50 year anniversary of his death. The original clipping is from one of my Grandma’s scrapbooks.

Iowa 50 Years from now - Frank Miller - Frank Andrea Miller - Editorial Cartoon - Des Moines RegisterHere is a editorial cartoon from the Des Moines Register about Iowa 50 Years From Now?. Click on the link to see how accurate to predictions were. The original cartoon is from 1959.

Chinese New Year Lanterns, Red Lanterns, Nanjing Road, HolidaysFinally we have a picture showing New Year lanterns in Shanghai.

All of the finds included ‘yea’ as part of the word year. There was not a lot of diversity in the finds.

Which is your favorite of these ‘yea’ pictures?

What should I search for next? I have run out of  ‘ea’ strings that generate images. I need to find a new idea for a series. Any suggestions?

Widow’s Mite

I have been virtually teaching in Toronto since early this morning, so just a quick re-post of a post from five years ago as I have to be up very early again tomorrow for another long day of teaching. I am beginning to think virtual lag is worse than jet lag.

Mark 12:41-44 – August 2017

Tonight while out walking I was listening to the book of Mark. When I heard the following passage I thought about some of the coins that I have brought back from Israel.

Widow's Mite, Lepton, Mark 12Widow's Mite, Lepton, Mark 12

41. And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums.

42. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.

Leptons, Widows Mites, small coins, copper coins43. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all of those who are contributing to the offering box.

44. For they have contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
