Huckleberry’s Coming Soon

While out walking earlier this week I discovered that we are getting a new restaurant not far from my house. Perko's, Huckleberry's, new restaurant, Southern cooking, lunch, breakfastThe building has housed a Perko’s for as long as I have lived here so it was a bit of a surprise to see it changing. I did check on Perko’s website and it is still listed as a location. However, it in the middle of being remodeled and is closed.

Perko's, Huckleberry's, new restaurant, Southern cooking, lunch, breakfastHere is what is replacing Perko’s.

Perko's, Huckleberry's, new restaurant, Southern cooking, lunch, breakfastHuckleberry’s is known for “Southern Cookin’ with a California Twist!”

Perko's, Huckleberry's, new restaurant, Southern cooking, lunch, breakfastIt will be interesting to see how long it takes for the remodel as they have a distinctive  look and a lot will need to change in both the interior and exterior.

Perko's, Huckleberry's, new restaurant, Southern cooking, lunch, breakfastHuckleberry’s only serves breakfast and lunch so it will be interesting to see how well they do since Tracy is a commuter city.

I have looked at the website and there are some great menu options. I may have to give them a try once they open.

Have any of you eaten at a Huckleberry’s? Is the food as good as it looks on their website?

Do you know what a huckleberry is?

October Poem Illustrated

Thinking of this post, so I thought I would share it again.

Here is another poem from my Grandma’s scrapbooks that I illustrated with pictures I have taken.

October Poem, Maitland Bushby

October

October! October!

There’s magic in the name —-

A clear sky, a blue sky,

And sunsets all aflame.

Beautiful Sunset - California Central Valley - Patterson - Westley - Colorful Sunset - Mountain SunsetOctober! October!

It’s harvest time again;

The high corn, the low corn,

Is gathered in the bin.

Iowa cornfield, ready for harvest, Iowa, corn, tall corn stateOctober! October!

The birds sing with swelled throats;

A long song, a last song,

Of tender parting notes.

sialia mexicana, western bluebird, bird in puddleOctober! October!

The hills are all aglow

With red leaves, with gold leaves,

That dance when soft winds blow.

North of Toronto, Fall Color, Autumn, Colorful TreesOctober! October!

I love you more each year;

Your warm days, your soft days,

To me they are most dear.
