The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Barton, Vermont.
The previous destination on my virtual hike was Bloomfield, Vermont.
The virtual hike from Bloomfield to Barton went through the mountains of Northern Vermont and along the side of the Sylio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge.
You can see here the welcome center for the wildlife refuge.
The route also went by Lake Willoughby.
The roads were winding and were fairly flat, but there were a few large hills that the roads went over.
I finally made it to Barton after passing by another large lake, Crystal Lake. Barton is a village of about 700 people.You can see that it is also a crossroads between two highways
I have been setting shorter distances between destinations for better motivation for my daily walking and so far it has been working. I have been walking more each day and have made good progress on my Virtual Hike. I am actually a few stops behind on my posts.
Next up is to continue across Vermont to New York, before heading down through the Hudson River Valley. I was going to head straight across the state, but decided to make a short detour after the next stop to virtually visit a site that brings back some good memories.
Then once I am in New York there will be an interesting literary stop before heading south.
