Old Boy Scout Patches

Last week I ran across some old Boy Scout patches which brought back some good memories.

Boy Scout patches, boy scouts, Spanish Peaks, Santa Fe Trail, ChaplainThe first patch is a Chaplain Aide patch. In my troop this was a position I held. I like the design of this patch.

You can see more about the ranch in Virtual Hike to the Spanish Peaks.

My favorite Boy Scout patch is my Eagle patch. See: Eagle Scout Memories

Virtual Hike to Elizabethtown, Kentucky

The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Elizabethtown Kentucky, Hardin county, Lincoln, Bolin, Bunt, ancestorsThe previous destination on my virtual hike was Danville, Kentucky.

This would be where I would go to see if I could find out more information about my ancestors who lived in the county.

My 3rd Great Grand Father Thomas Bolin was born there in 1808. At about the same time Abraham Lincoln was born there. Perhaps they knew each other at kids as both families moved on the Perry County, Indiana at about the same time.

My 3rd Great Grand Mother Emily Bunt was born in Elizabethtown in 1833, so both branches of my family came through the area in the early 1800’s.

The next stop on my Virtual Hike is going to be a bit further west where I will cross the Ohio River into Indiana. I will go a bit out of the way to pass an interesting place on the way.

In Indiana I will virtually stop at more places with family connections.
