The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Quakertown, Pennsylvania.
The previous destination on my virtual hike was where Washington crossed the Delaware at what is now known as Washington Crossing.
The virtual hike from Washington Crossing first went over the Delaware canal on a bridge. You can see the remains of the canal and tow path.
It then headed west along scenic country roads.
There were a lot of houses along the way and in some place it was more urban. However, there were a lot of open areas along the way.
The virtual hike finally made it to Quakertown. The town was first settled by Quakers, but did not get the name until 1803 when a post office opened.
At one time Quakertown was an important stop on the interurban trolley line that ran between Allentown and Philadelphia.
I do have some Quaker ancestry, but to my knowledge none of my ancestors lived in Quakertown. I chose this stop as it was half-way to my next destination.
The next destination on my Virtual Hike is where a significant event happened in my family history.
I have been setting shorter distances between destinations for better motivation for my daily walking and so far it has been working. I have been walking more each day and have made good progress on my Virtual Hike. I am still a few stops behind on my posts.
I am now heading west and have some interesting stops planned that are family or history related.
