Wednesday Image Search – Yar

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

Last week I searched for ‘war.’ This week I will proceed to ‘yar’ as there are no results for ‘xar’.

What images will I find?

Tel Afeq, Antipatris, Paul, Fortress, CardoThe first image comes from Yarkon National Park in Israel. It is located next to Tel Afeq which is ancient Antipatris. You can find in the Bible why Paul was at this place. Paul would most likely have traveled down this road as he approached Antipatris.

Colorful Vinyard, Livermore Hills, December color, Scenic LivermoreThe next image is one of the only food related images that I could find. Here is a vineyard in California.

Backyard rainbow, sprinklers, spring yard workHere we have a backyard rainbow.  If the sun is just right you get rainbows from the sprinklers.

Frankfurt train yard, trains, train travelHere we have a train yard in Frankfurt, Germany. I have gone through this area many times during my trips to Germany.

Rudyard Kipling, Sydney Writers Walk, Literature, Something of MyselfFinally we have plaque for Rudyard Kipling on the Sydney Writers Walk. How many of his books have you read?

There were quite a few ‘yar’ pictures to choose from. I hope you enjoyed my selections. I could have chosen multiple pictures about my front and back yards.

Which is your favorite of these ‘yar’ pictures?

What should I search for next?  Since I am following a series with ‘?ar’  the next one will probably be ‘zar’ as I do have a few to choose from.

In the BAR XVII

It has been awhile since I have added to my In the BAR post series where I share some of my own pictures or thoughts about a recent issue of Biblical Archaeology Review.

When I opened the latest issue earlier this week several articles and pictures caught my eye.

Geezer at Gezer, Standing Stone, Cultic CenterAn article about the Amorites had a picture of standing stones at Gezer, and I thought about this picture that was taken of me standing by one of them.

Nubian Ibex, Ibex, Capra nubiana, wild goat, masadaA Biblical Bestiary article about the Ibex made me think of a closeup encounter with an Ibex at Masada.

Church of St. Anne, Jerusalem, Crusader churchAn article titled Colorful Crusader Churches made me think of several visits I have made to the Church of St. Anne in Jerusalem. I especially remember singing in this church building as the acoustics are wonderful there.

Gods Gold, Sean Kingsley, Temple TreasureAn article by Elena Dugan titled Jerusalem’s Temple Treasures: Where Did They Go? made me think of the book God’s Gold by Sean Kingsley. This book is a very interesting look at where the temple treasures went after the fall of the Temple and where they may have eventually ended up. I read this book some time ago, but plan on reading it again as part of my Curse of Oak Island off-season reading. Since one of the theories is that the Templar’s hid Temple Treasure at Oak Island I want to know more about where the Temple treasures traveled to.

Square Opening, Archaeology, Tel Lachish, digExcavation season has started in Israel and I am starting to follow the different digs that are underway. Hopefully there will be some great finds this year at sites that I have visited in the past.

Hopefully I will find something in the next BAR and will add another post to the series.
