Oak Island – An Italian Cave

Season 10 of The Curse of Oak Island continues to show new discoveries and theories. They are wandering all over the island as they investigate different locations.

This week on Oak Island they showed the rehabilitation of the Garden Shaft reaching the bottom.

They also showed some investigations near the circular structure on Lot 5.

Meanwhile, part of the team was in Italy exploring an ancient cave system.

Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything?Of course, one thing to remember is that the dig season is already over. They have taken the time to determine how to present things each week to build suspense and keep viewers tuned in.

oak Island, Money Pit, Mahone BayIn the cave system they looked at an interesting cave structure that had a similar shape to the Lead Cross found on Oak Island.

Dungeon, Fire, & Sword, Knights Templar, Jerusalem, Crusades, History, BooksThey also found some interesting carvings with Templar ties. It was known that this cave system had Templar ties so it was not surprising to find Templar symbols. However the cave shapes may have been there even before the time of Christ, so to me the cave shape is not so important.

In the swamp they continued to look at the ramp leading up to the old stone road. They brought in a large ‘shop vac’ to drain the water so they could see the shape of the ramp better. They also removed some of the stones and found sticks underneath that may be dated to find out how old the ramp is. Other items from this area dated back as far as 1200 AD so what will be the dating of these?

oak island, curse of oak lsland, satellite, money pitBack in Italy they moved to a different cave system that was also full of Templar carvings. Some of them were similar to or, to use Oak Island terminology, exactly like some of the things found at or near Oak Island.

They also looked at the dating of Nolan’s Cross using astral alignment. The archaeoastronomer gave a date of 1200 AD for the construction of Nolan’s Cross.  Hmm, this matches items found in the swamp. Is there a connection?

At the Garden Shaft they continued the final rehabilitation. It will be interesting when it is done as they will be able to investigate an area that seems softer and could lead to a tunnel or other feature.

In the preview of the next episode they showed some additional research in Italy including someone saying ‘over 1,000 years old.’ Back at Oak Island they showed that investigation at the circular structure had progressed. They also showed Marty going down into the bottom of the Garden Shaft and moving a plank to show some rectangular objects. What did they find?

With only a few more episodes in the season it will be interesting to see how they wrap things up. Will there be another season? Or will it end with the mystery ‘solved’ but no treasure?

Another thought tonight was to think about what would the treasure be that the Templars brought to Oak Island? Some of the items they typically show as possibilities would not have come into the hands of the Templars in Jerusalem, but are know to have  been taken from the Temple by the Romans in 70 AD. I can see them finding items of monetary value, but not of religious significance.

However, even though they have shown so many Templar ties, I am still a bit skeptical of some of their logic.
