Season 9 of The Curse of Oak Island is drawing to a close. This week they reached the bottom of the fourth large can and determined they will be able to excavate one more to end the season.
In the episode tonight they did show some interesting items pulled from the fourth large can. From their analysis, they think they may have just missed the Chappel Vault.
As the can neared the bottom there was all of a sudden a sudden increase in speed as it may have dropped through a tunnel or chamber. This was not reflected in what was pulled up, although they did pull up puddled clay and cement that in the past have both been associated with the Chappel Vault.
They did a little more metal detecting on Lot 8 and found a link of a chain and another ox shoe. It will be interesting once they have the permit to do further excavation there to find out what the large anomaly is.
They also had a meeting to determine where the fifth can will be placed and started the process of sinking and clearing the last can of the year.
They also had a meeting with another theorist. This one was all about the Portuguese findings on the island and it was determined that they will make an expedition to Portugal to look at Templar sites there.
The preview for next week showed the fifth metal can starting to be excavated, and also a scene from Lot 8 showing them finding something.
The preview also show some of the team in Portugal visiting an old road and some churches. They seem to be finding similar symbols as those found on Oak Island. It will be interesting to see how they make the connections.
This was episode 22 and last year there were 25 episodes, so the season is drawing to a close. They have been talking about the weather change and how they will soon have to suspend work for the year.
What did they find? How exciting will it be next week?
