Today I watched the two movie versions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

During the commercials I had to go take a look at my copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.

My copy is definitely not a first printing of the first edition. But, perhaps it is a third printing. It does have the original text by Dahl, and the original illustrations by Schindelman.

Back to the movies. The first movie came out in 1972 and was titled Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. The first movie starred Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka.

The second movie came out in 2006 and was titled Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The second movie starred Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka.

The two movies are very different, especially in how Willy Wonka is portrayed.

Fans are polarized as to which version they like better.

For me, I like the first one better.

Which Wonka do you like better? Wilder or Depp?
