This year Hostess came out with a special edition of Mint Chocolate CupCakes. I thought that these would be perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and had planned on posting about them on Saturday. However, my mind wandered elsewhere, so here is the post a few days late.

I was actually a bit surprised that the box was not decorated for St. Patrick’s Day, but they did come out well in advance of the holiday so they must not have wanted to make the connection.

Here you can see what awaited me as I opened the box. First impression was that the frosting was a bit sloppy. I also found this with the recent Strawberry CupCakes.

The top of the CupCake looked OK though.

The Mint Chocolate CupCakes looked like their picture. A nice white squiggle of frosting on a mint green background.

Of course, the real question was whether they tasted good or not. The chocolate cake was nice, but I would have gone with a more intense mint taste. To me the balance of chocolate and mint was not what it needed to be to call it Mint Chocolate. It was more of just chocolate with green frosting.
