Tonight I will share some of my dinners from the past week. Take a look at all five and let me know which one you would order.
My first dinner was at The Kartoffelhaus. I had the Thuringer Rostbratel. This is one of the regional specialties for Thuringia. If you look closely you will see a pork steak buried underneath all the grilled onions.
The second dinner was at a restaurant that I had not been to before. Two of my students took me to a combination Italian/Greek restaurant. I decided to go with a lasagna. It is a bit different that what we expect in the US, but more like what you get in Italy. It was delicious.
Next came a visit to Restauration Stilbruch for one of my favorite dishes. Doesn’t the Birnen-Pfanne look delicious . This wonderful dish of potatoes, pears and pork was really nice comfort food on a cold wet day.
On Friday night I went back to the Kartoffelhaus for Bauernfrüstück. This farmer’s breakfast is another of my favorites.
Last night I made it back to Restauration Stilbruch again and had Rote-Pfanne or Red Pan. This is my second favorite dish there and if I make a second visit during a trip I have it instead of the Birnen-Pfanne.
I hope to make it to another of my favorite restaurants this week. I tried to go there last night and the wait for food would have been over an hour. I was too hungry to wait so went back to Stilbruch.
