This year for 4th of July Hostess has brought back Star Spangled CupCakes.

The CupCakes look very patriotic with the red, white and blue frosting.

The box itself is very colorful and the fireworks and stars add a nice touch.

I like this box better than the one from last year.

I opened the box and already at a glance could tell that they had corrected some of the issues from last year.

The frosting this year is much better. Last year it was dried out and was easily damaged.

Another interesting thing for this year is that there are both sprinkles and the original squiggle. I have not see this combination before. However, the sprinkles are not well distributed on the CupCake. This seems to be a problem that Hostess is having a difficult time fixing.

Of course, just as important as what it looks like is how it tastes. The CupCakes this year taste good, especially with the much improved frosting. A nice moist cake and a good taste.

I have one saved to eat on the 4th of July along with one of the Red, White & Blue Twinkies.

Which would you choose, the CupCakes or the Twinkies?
