This fall saw the return of Pumpkin Spice CupCakes from Hostess.

The package is very colorful with fall colors. I also like the piece of pumpkin pie and the cinnamon sticks.

Last year they had Pumpkin Spice CupCakes, but are they the same this year?

Here you see the packages from last year and this year. You can see some similarities, but one difference really stands out. For the package itself it is the absence of the classic blue color of the box.

Do you see the difference in the CupCakes?

This year they went with The Original Squiggle instead of sprinkles. I doubt if anybody at Hostess is actively looking at my blog, but here is what I wrote last year.

I was a bit disappointed that the CupCakes did not have as many sprinkles as were shown on the box. I always like the texture of sprinkles. I am a little surprised that they didn’t just go with a squiggle of pumpkin frosting.

This year they went with the squiggle. There is a bit of a color bleeding issue with the frosting, but it tastes good 🙂

Here is a closeup of the CupCake after I had taken a bite. They have nice texture and the creamy filling was a nice offset to the flavor of the pumpkin. As far as I can remember the taste is the same as last year.

Not as good as the Caramel Apple CupCakes, but still delicious.
