We have a new restaurant coming to Tracy!

In December 2011 Chevys closed and the building has been vacant since.

I have many memories from Chevys and was sad to see it close. When I first moved to Tracy there was a lot of buzz about it coming to town. However, the building was only partially built before it sat in the elements for some time.

It was no surprise that the new restaurant coming in decided to tear down the old building and build a new one. I also heard that the layout of the building was not right, so that might be the reason.

In any case, I am glad to see some more Urban Renewal.

In May a fence went up around the building and a sign was put in place.

Coming Soon, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers.

I am excited to see Red Robin coming to Tracy. I like their burgers and it will be nice to have another casual sit down restaurant in town.

The first step in the process was to tear down the old building. Here you can see the remains of the rubble as it is being cleared up.

After the cleanup it was time to begin construction on the new building. Here you can see the foundation coming together.

This picture was taken about a month ago, so today I was eager to see how much had been done at the site.

I was not able to find a target date for when it will be finished, but they do list the location as coming soon on the Red Robin website. They have also started looking for employees through Monster and other employment sites. I would imagine that it will be open in time for the holidays.

I will probably write another post about it when it opens.
