Back Home Burger

Today I flew home from Toronto after a great Labour Day weekend following the class I was teaching.

Air Canada Jet, Toronto Airport, Pearson Airport, Flying HomeI flew home on Air Canada. There are some things that I like about Air Canada and other things that I don’t like. I do like their entertainment system as it has many movies and TV shows to choose from. I watched a movie and several TV shows during the long flight.

One thing that I don’t like is that I don’t get the same level of service as when flying with United. I don’t get to board early and didn’t get a good seat at all. I was in a window seat near the rear of the aircraft.

By the time the food cart go to me today they didn’t have the choice I wanted to purchase. I wanted a BBQ beef sandwich, but had to settle for a chicken wrap. Maybe a bit healthier option. In any case, this made me think of beef and burgers.

Five Guys Burger, hamburger, five guys, Single Burger, overdone burgerWhile in Toronto I went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries with my students.

I decided to order the Little Hamburger since I was not very hungry.

I was not impressed with the burger. It was overdone and did not have much taste at all. I mostly tasted the condiments that were on the burger. Also, the bun was a bit hard and fell apart while eating the burger.

Little Fries, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Five Guys, French FriesI also ordered the Little Fries as I knew that the regular size was way too big. The Little Fries is also very large. If they would have only filled the cup instead of throwing another scoop full into the greasy bag it would have been enough.

In-N-Out Burger, Tracy California, Burgers, hamburgersAfter landing at SFO, picking up my suitcase and redeeming my car from the parking company I headed toward home. I was hungry for a good hamburger, so decided to stop at In-N-Out for a late lunch.

In-N-Out, Hamburger, Double Double, Burger and FriesI ordered a Double Double with fries and a drink and had a delicious lunch. The burger was cooked just right and the patties were juicy and full of taste. The bun was nice and soft, but still held together well. There were just enough fries to fill me up and more importantly they were not greasy.

Now for a question. Which of these two meals do you think cost the most? Which gave me the better value?

Little Burger, Little Fries and a drink at Five Guys Burgers and Fries: ~$12.00

Double Double, fries and a drink at In-N-Out: $7.16

Which one would you choose?

Steven
