When I travel to new places and try new foods or drinks I will often try to find them locally when I return home.
After my trip to Turkey, I have hunted for two items. Magnum Bars were easy to find, but the second item has not been as easy.
I really enjoyed the cherry juice in Turkey. I really enjoyed the sour taste of the cherry juice. I bought this bottle in Ankara after visiting the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. See: Ankara to Cappadocia
Here is a table set up with goblets of cherry juice as we toasted the successful conclusion of our hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia. You can see pictures from the balloon flight in my post: Cappadocia to Antakya. If you visit Cappadocia, I recommend that you take a balloon flight with Kapadokya Balloons.
I took a picture of the bottle that they poured the cherry juice from. You can see that the cherry juice is light in color. The taste is a bit sour or tart, but it also has a light cherry taste.
We would also have cherry juice for breakfast at the hotel each day. I really enjoyed it, and would often have several glasses.
I didn’t get a very good picture of this bottle of cherry juice, but it is one of the juices that I have tried since I have been back home. I though that it would be easy to find a comparable cherry juice, but so far nothing comes even close. Also, all the ones I have found claim to be organic which pushes up the price.
Santa Cruz Organic Red Tart Cherry does have a tart taste, but the cherry taste is very heavy. A dark cherry taste instead of the light cherry taste from Turkey.
I also tried Tart Cherry from Smart Juice, but again it has a heavy cherry taste. I will have to keep looking for the right cherry juice. I could search on-line, but I do like to try and find something local if I can. I still have a few places that I want to try.
I also tried a Black Cherry from Open Nature, but again it also had a very heavy taste.
Writing this post has made me a bit hungry, maybe I need a Magnum Bar before I go to bed π
Do you have a favorite treat from another country that you can’t find where you live?
Steven

In addition to the cherry juice, we really enjoyed the cherry jam on some bread for breakfast. Stacy turned me on to it, and then I couldn’t get enough of it.
π Where I live is famous for Cherry Cider. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=CnhDeuBc5Fk
