Orchard Sunset

Yesterday I had planned on taking a walk during the afternoon to take pictures of the blossoms in the orchards near my friends’ house. Instead I spent the afternoon helping plant some new trees. Plus, taking a few pictures of Bees and Blossoms in their orchard.

However, I did get some pictures of orchards on my way to evening church services.

Orchard at Sunset - Patterson Hills Sunset - Orchards - Patterson - SunsetThe sun is slowly setting over the Patterson Hills in this picture. I decided to stop and take this picture through a gap in the orchards that were lining the road.

Orchard Blooms Sunset - Patterson, California - Almond TreesI really like the orderly layout of orchards. The trees are lined up perfectly and you can look straight down the rows. For some reason this picture is reminding me of art lessons from Miss George many years ago.

I like the way the orchard is in shadow and the tops of the trees are lit up by the sun.

Almond Orchard - Patterson, California - Orchard at Sunset - White BlossomsIn this orchard you can really see the beautiful white blossoms of the Almond trees. The space between the trees is bare unlike the one above, but I like the stark look.

I also like the way that you can see the color from the sunset at the far end of the rows and the tips of the trees.

Orchard Sunset - Almond Orchard - Bee Hives - Sunset Orchard - White BlossomsAt the end of this row there is a stack of bee hives. There are many beehives in the orchards this time of year as the trees need to be pollinated.

I am now thinking about honey again. Maybe I will have some for a bedtime snack 🙂

Nice photo’s Steven, I bet that’s pretty all in bloom. When we were in Napa, I noticed the vineyards plant a rose bush at the end of each row of trellised vines. It’s also to attract the hard working bumble bee.
