When I am out dining while traveling I will have dessert more often than at home. Usually because others are having dessert as well.
While in Mexico I had a few good desserts.
Of course, when you are in Latin America, you must have some Flan. Also known as crème caramel, it is a delicious custard with a caramel topping. This was delicious, especially after a heavy meal of various meats at a Uruguayan parrilla style restaurant.
They also had good ice cream in Mexico City and it can be presented very nicely. This was at my hotel at the end of one of the few dinners where I dined alone.
This was the ice cream that I had after a nice meal at an Asian fusion restaurant. I really like the presentation with the flower. The vanilla ice cream had a really nice rich flavor and I scraped the cup for the last drop.
You may have seen my post about A Revolving Meal. Here is a picture of the Strawberry Flambé with Ice Cream that I had for dessert. You can click on the link to see a picture of the waiters preparing the dish.
Finally we have a picture of the crème brûlée I was enjoying while watching the Noches de Flamenco show at Casa Avila.
I have mixed thoughts on this dessert. The topping of the dessert was a little thick. They used too much sugar for the topping. This led to the topping being too hard to break and it also had a slight torch taste. However, the custard below was delicious.
I also should have used my flash for this picture, but didn’t want to distract from the show that was going on.
I hope that you enjoyed my little dessert review, now to go to my kitchen and see if I can find something sweet.
What is your favorite dessert?
Which of these would you have chosen?
Steven

AHH! You are a great food photographer. Flan is my favorite — but all these look so good, I wouldn’t be able to choose.
mmm. . . they all look delicious.
I would want the Flan, which looks delicious …
Gads, I rarely have room for desert. Sometimes we’ll order one and share, even though we’re super full. Alys and I shared some Vegan Carrot cake last week that was really really good. Surprising, no eggs or milk…don’t know how they did it.
