It was a good day until the drive home.
On the way up the Altamont tonight my car started having strange electrical problems. I pulled over to a safe area just in time for my car to slowly turn off. If I would have still been on the road I would have had a lot of angry people honking at me :-). I still had auxiliary power, but the car would not start again. I then was very thankful that I had been renewing my On-Star subscription each year. With the auxiliary power I was able to call On-Star, who called Pontiac Road Side assistance and was soon in touch with a tow company.
Although I titled this post Friday Frustrations, things actually worked out fairly well. It is more how things work tomorrow when I find out if my car can be fixed in the morning :-).
The tow company asked me if my car could be pulled on a wheel dolly, and since it is front wheel drive it is able to be. They then said that they had a tow truck that would be passing me in just a short time and that it was taking another vehicle to the same place where my car needed to go. I waited less than ten minutes and there was the tow truck. It was interesting to watch the driver line up with my car and attach it to the tow dolly. It took some time to attach all the safety cables and lights, but we were soon on our way to the dealership. My car was dropped off, paperwork signed, keys in the drop box and now I just have to be patient to find out what is wrong in the morning. Thankfully they have Saturday service.
I called a good friend who came and picked me up and brought me home. Thankfully, I ran most of my pre-trip errands yesterday when I took the day off and I mostly just need to do laundry, clean house and pack for my trip. It is a good thing that I have The Packing Formula. I just reread my humorous post from last September and am already in a better mood.
Tomorrow may actually be the frustrating day. Especially if the car cannot be fixed tomorrow. I have a way to the airport, but the logistics of getting the car fixed while I am gone may get interesting 🙂
Without a car, you sometimes just feel like a big stone head.
The last time I was in Mexico City I saw this big Olmec head at the Museo Nacional de AntropologĂa. Perhaps I will see it again on this trip.
So, now to get some laundry started, make a nice salad for dinner and relax with a good book and let my frustrations slip away.

Hope you and Clifford II have a safe trip. I was interested in learning your packing formula, but I really fear the “recesses of your brain”…LOL…bon voyage.
Hope your car didn’t need too many repairs! . . . And, that Saturday was better day.
I am still waiting, they have had trouble finding the part they need, but should have it soon.
Now for plan B. No part available, so will get a ride to the train tomorrow from friends and work out the car repair details and retrieval through e-mail :-).
