Today was a wet and windy day. One of those days when it is nice to be working inside and looking outside at the weather. I drove to work in the fog and then later the rain and wind picked up. As I was leaving the office the parking lot was littered with leaves. The last trees were loosing their fall foliage with the rain and wind.
The light was quickly fading, but I was able to get a few pictures of the leaves that were skittering across the parking lot.
The leaves were mostly red, but there were a few yellow ones also. They are striking against the dark, wet parking lot surface.
The light may have faded a bit much before I took this picture, but I wanted to share it as it shows the contrast between the front and back of the leaves. They have a rich color on the front and are pale on the back. The little bit out of focus look is also fairly true to how they look in the dim light.
I also liked this picture as you can see drops of water on the top leaf and the bottom one has some bleed through of the red to the back of the leaf.
I had a great feeling as I walked out of the back door of the building and watched the leaves slowly skittering across the surface of the parking lot. Watching them stop and go, tumble as they would hit an obstacle or just simply hold their ground as others moved. Unfortunately, I cannot share the smell of the fallen leaves. The smell brought back memories of playing in leaf piles below our big Maple tree when growing up in Iowa.
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my Wet and Windy Wednesday.
Steven
