While looking through some of my pictures and thinking about what to post today I ran across this one:
I have always liked this picture. This old steamship has been abandoned to the ravages of time. I am not sure how old the steamship is, but it looks like it has been sitting in this position for some time. I just looked at a satellite picture from 2012 and it is still in the same position. You can also see that there is an overlook point, so possibly this is a historic steamboat. Maybe more research is in order.

I took the picture back in February 2010 while on a cruise to Antarctica. One of our stops on the way back to Buenos Aires was Ushuaia, Argentina. This picture was taken from the window of the bus that brought us back from our tour of the Tierra del Fuego National Park. We were approaching the dock area where our cruise ship was waiting and were stopped in traffic. I saw this steamship and just had to get a picture. I later noticed that I had it positioned between the emergency signs that were posted on the window of the bus. I saw a little bit of humor in seeing the derelict steamship flanked by the emergency signs.
I did do a quick image search for pictures of this ship. There are several pictures, but none of them have more than basic information attached. The captions simply contain common terms such as steamship, Ushuaia and Beagle Channel, but no details as to even the name of the ship. Perhaps I need to go back to Ushuaia and do some more research and take additional pictures :-).

Mmmmmm, makes you wonder. Very Halloweenish, maybe a ghost ship story ahead? When I first looked at your post, I wondered how those signs were up in the air like that, HA thank’s for explaining. I would have been thinking about that all day.
A piece of history rotting. Too bad there’s not much info on it. If ships could talk, eh?
In case of an emergency, hide on the sunken ship? Sounds like an awesome thriller or zombie movie. Love the serendipitous moment.
A wonderful opportunity to preserve history. Since you have so much mobility and important contacts, I’m appointing you, ok?
