Driving home from work this evening, I had an inkling that there would be a great sunset tonight. The sky had heavy clouds in the east and there were also some to the west by the time I made it home.
After a quick dinner and downloading and printing the outline for the small group study that I went to tonight, I grabbed my camera and headed out the door. I could see the sky rapidly coloring and I wanted to catch it at the peak. I made it out to the street just in time.
I captured this picture with the tree across the street silhouetted against the sky. I really like the way that the brighter light is trying to sneak through the clouds across the top of the picture.
I then walked out to the center of the street so that I could get a straight on shot of the sunset.
Here we see the extent of the sunset. The whole western sky was a riot of color and again we have the beautiful silhouettes of the trees. This time on both sides of the picture.
I went back in side shortly after taking this picture to grab a few items I needed to take with me. By the time I had the car backed out of the garage the color had almost entirely faded away. My timing tonight was right on.
I was so glad to see the clouds as the heat spell that we have been going through was broken today. It is now down to 66 degrees, and the forecast is for highs in the 70’s for the start of next week. I am glad that the fall temperatures are finally here.
I am heading to the foothills for the weekend and hope to have some great pictures to share. Hopefully some good shots of planes in action as I am going to a small air show at Pine Mountain Lake.
I hope you enjoyed the sunset. What a great way to end the work week and start a three day Columbus Day weekend.

I love fall too. I have racked a mountain of leaves from our driveway, I think most of ours have fallen now. Very pretty sky, lucky you caught it!
It’s pretty special when the sunset you anticipate becomes a reality like you saw.
Gorgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing God’s fabulous painting.
I always enjoy a good sunset. Especially when there are a lot of clouds and variety of colors.
