Virtually Above the Border

Tomorrow I will be virtually above the border again as I start a two day class in Toronto.

Air Canada, Seldom Flyers, SFO, Airlines, Frequent FlyersNo flight for me, but I do have to get up early because of the time difference.

Canada Geese, Canada Goose, Waterfowl, Canadian GeeseI will not have to dodge Canada Geese on the way to the office, but just take a short walk down the hallway to my work space.

zoom, congregation, church, bible study, covid-19I do spend time virtually above the border each week as I join friends there for Bible study and worship services when I can.

Tim Horton's, Canada, Coffee, TorontoI will not get to have Tim Hortons breakfast before heading to the office. One thing that I like when I visit the Toronto office.

Yoghurt, Key Lime, Tart Taste, Noosa, Yogurt flavorsInstead it will be some yogurt as I get my computer started up and set up for my class.

I will also be missing some of my favorite places to eat lunch and dinner near our office in Toronto. Instead I will have to make my own lunch each day.

This week will virtually take other places as well for meetings, so there will be a lot of memories of places visited.

World Cup Memories 2023

It is World Cup time for football (soccer for us Americans) again and around the world people are watching the games.

While watching the Women’s World Cup this year I have had some memories of watching the Men’s World Cup in 2018.

In the US viewership was down from the previous Women’s World cup as the US team has not done as well and the games are not played during normal walking hours.

I am getting ready to watch the re-broadcast of the final. I have been careful not to see the results.

Hotel Room TV, World Cup, World Cup 2018, South AfricaI was in South Africa for a Men’s World Cup back in 2018. Since the games were in the evening time I would turn the TV on when I returned to my room and either watch matches or highlights of the games that had been played. Of course, I napped through some of the games while recovering from jet lag.

Restaurant, World Cup, Watch and EatOne night we had a course dinner and watched one of the games while eating our delicious meal.

Outdoor TV, World Cup, South Africa 2018The TV that we watched the game on was very large. It was a cold evening and not too many people were outside in this plaza watching the game.

Hotel Big Screen, South Africa, World Cup, SoccerIn the hotel lobby there was a large screen and in the evenings the World Cup matches were being shown.

While waiting at the airport for my flight I watched one of the games in the airline lounge. There was much excitement in the lounge as people were cheering for both sides.

World Cup 2018, Soccer, Football, Lufthansa, Russia, SpainDuring the flight from JNB to FRA I watched one game and on the flight between FRA and SFO I watched two games. Lufthansa had several live TV channels and they showed the games.
