Oak Island – Hurricane?

The 11th season of  The Curse of Oak Island has not yet started, but I will make a prediction that sometime during the upcoming season there will be concerns over approaching storms, or maybe even a hurricane. We do usually see them talk during the end of the season about deteriorating weather.Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything?During Hurricane season I will often look at the spaghetti models to see where the hurricanes are predicted to go.

In some of the early models for Franklin, some of the projected paths were headed toward Nova Scotia, but now they all head to the east.

Even in some of the Idalia models tonight there are a couple predicted paths that could head toward Nova Scotia.

Will either of these hurricanes hit the island? Most likely, as they are or were outliers I don’t see them headed that way in the end. However, I am sure that they will always be keeping an eye on the weather and at some point it will be mentioned.

Historically the premier for each season comes in October or November, so we have some time to wait for the first episode of Season 11. By that time we will know if they experienced any severe weather.

Oak Island, treasure, Randal SullivanWill we see weather as a reason why they can’t find the slippery treasure?

Actually it would be interesting to see the effects of a hurricane on the island. What would be exposed if a huge storm system hits the island.

Curse of Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Nova ScotiaIt will be interesting to see where they will be digging or exploring this year as they begin a new season.

Will they undertake one of the big projects they have proposed in the past?

The operations at the site will have already been completed by the time the season starts, so perhaps they will give hints of what is to come later in the season.

What will they find this year? Will they find the slippery treasure and finally wrap up the show?

Canteen Memories

Do you have an eating place that you like to go to when you visit a certain place?

I have many of these places around the US and the World. That one little place that you don’t want to miss going to when you visit somewhere.

This is a follow-up to a post I wrote last night about Zesto Memories.

Canteen Lunch in the Alley, Ottumwa, Iowa, 1936, Loose Meat SandwichesWhen I go back to Ottumwa, Iowa I always have to visit the Canteen.

Lowenberg Bakery, Ottumwa, Iowa, GrandpaThe Canteen has been in Ottumwa for many years. My Grandpa used to eat lunch there when he worked for Lowenberg Bakery in the 50’s.

t-shirts, memories, events, places, shirtsThe full name of the Canteen is Canteen Lunch in Alley and it dates back to 1936. I always have memories of Ottumwa when I wear this t-shirt.

Of course, my memories do not reach back that far. They do however reach back to the early 70’s when it was a treat to get a canteen for lunch. The canteen is a loose meat sandwich which is delicious.

Loose Meat Sandwich, Canteen, Steamed HamburgerIt has been a long time since I have been back to Ottumwa, but eating at the Canteen will be at the top of my list of things I have to do when I visit again.

I sometimes have to make my own canteen burgers. I am sure they don’t taste the same, but I like the way that I make them. It may be time to make some again after writing this post.

What is your special little food place that you have to visit when you travel someplace?
