Transcontinental Railroad Stamp

Last week I wrote a post about the Transcontinental Railroad and mentioned that I had not yet received a stamp that had been sent to me. See: The Transcontinental Railroad Final Link?

Last week I used a couple railroad stamps from my collection.

Railroad Growth Stamp - 125 Years of Rail Transportation - Baltimore and Ohio Railroad - Postage StampThe first was to commemorate 125 years of Rail Transportation.

Railroad Engineers - Postage Stamp - Casey Jones - Railroad History - Transcontinental RailroadThe second one honored railroad engineers.

I had scanned these two stamps about railroad history from my Stamp Collection.

Today I received the Transcontinental Railroad stamp in the mail along with some other ones that I had ordered.

Union Pacific Bridge, Omaha Nebraska, Railways, Railway bridge, postcard, Missing LinkThe post last week was inspired by a colleague who gave me an old postcard of the Union Pacific Railway Bridge crossing the Missouri River.

Union Pacific Bridge, Omaha Nebraska, Railways, Railway bridge, postcard, Missing Link, stamp, postmarkThe postcard also had an old stamp which made me think of a post I had written back in 2013. I had used the first two stamps in this post to illustrate it back then.

Since I have made a Return to Stamp Collecting, I have some ideas about how to use stamps to illustrate some new posts.

Remembering a Trip to the Zoo

Since I am a bit tired tonight I looked back to see what I was doing ten years ago. I was in Sydney, Australia and had gone to the Taronga Zoo. That night I gave a preview of some of the pictures that I took during the day.

Sleeping Koala - Sydney Zoo - Taronga Zoo - Koala at ZooOne of the first exhibits I visited was the Koalas. They were napping in the warm weather.

Flowers at the Zoo - Taronga Zoo - Sydney Zoo - Flower CentersI took pictures of flowers too, zoos are a good place to take flower pictures. There are almost always a broad variety of flowers at the zoo.

Giraffe at Taronga Zoo - Animal Skyscraper - Giraffe and Skyscrapers - Taronga ZooHere a towering Giraffe joins the skyline of Sydney.

Zoo with a View - Sydney Harbour - Opera House - Harbour Bridge - Taronga ZooThe Taronga Zoo is a Zoo with a View. There are many places where you get a nice view of Sydney Harbour, the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Yawning Crocodile - Salt Water Crocodile - Sydney Zoo - Taronga ZooMy mouth is starting to mimic this Salt Water Crocodile. I am starting to yawn as I am tiring quickly after a long day. What Big Teeth this crocodile has. Actually it is cooling off as it radiates heat through the mouth.

Sumatran Tiger - Sleeping Tiger - Taronga Zoo - Sydney Zoo - Snoozing TigerI need to be doing the same at this Sumatran Tiger. It is time to get some shut eye.

I hope you enjoyed this preview. I will share more pictures soon.
