A Relaxing Weekend

I have had a relaxing weekend at home again.

library partially open, library, welcome back, covid 19I started reading the book that I was finally able to pick up from the library.

salmon cakes, comfort food, potatoesI made a nice dinner last night of salmon patties and potatoes. Just making salmon patties brought back a lot of memories. Mine are not as good as what my grandpa used to make, but they were still good. I always think of salmon patties as comfort food.

I had some leftovers today, but with some mac and cheese. Another good comfort food.

ankerstein church, sunday morning church, bibleI also finished building a church building with my Ankerstein. I was able to look at it while zooming to church services this morning.

The bible in the picture also made me think of my grandpa as it had been a gift from one of the churches he preached for.

Mayflower - Nathaniel Philbrick - A Story of Courage, Community, and War - PIlgrims - Mayflower - Plymouth - ThanksgivingI also worked on some genealogy this weekend and ordered a book to add to my collection of books about Plymouth Colony and the Mayflower. The book above is not the book I ordered, but is one that is in my collection. I will write about the book after it arrives next week.

Tavern, Osnaburg, Ohio, ancestry, family historyI also received an e-mail from a historical society in Ohio. They sent me a little more information and also the picture above of this old tavern built in 1836. This tavern has a family connection and I have an interesting story I want to share about it.

Now to get prepared for a very busy week of work. I have a few webinars scheduled this week. It is a good thing I am still working from home as some of the webinars are outside of normal working hours.

Did you have a relaxing weekend?

A Visit to the Community Rose Garden

Yesterday I went to the library for curbside pickup of a couple books I had requested. While there I decided to take a walk through the community rose garden.

The rose garden is right beside the library and I will often visit it when I pick up or return books.

Tracy community rose garden, roses, garden, bloomsI like the layout of the rose garden with the concentric walkways around the center art installation.

Tracy California, Rose Garden, Garden ClubThe rose garden was dedicated in 1990 and was a project by the Tracy Community Garden Club.

I like this bunch of pink roses.

In any case it has good petal formation and is very pretty.

This visit along with the fact that my sister planted some rose bushes is making me think of planting some new roses. It is maybe too late this year, but I can always start thinking of which varieties to plant.

Do you have a community rose garden where you live?
