Wat Arun

While walking in Bangkok last Sunday I came across an interesting vista along the river. I did not go and visit this temple, but was able to get pictures from across the river.

Wat Arun, Buddhist Temple, Bangkok, Temple of DawnWat Arun is also known as the Temple of Dawn, and is a Buddhist Temple named after a Hindu god.

The central spire of prang is about 250 feet tall, so it soars above the surrounding area.

Wat Arun, Buddhist Temple, Bangkok, Temple of DawnThere is a lot of traffic on the river, and there are many sights that are only accessible by water. Not being a water person, I didn’t take a boat ride.

Wat Arun, Buddhist Temple, Bangkok, Temple of DawnI like that it is a cloudy sky and not a clear sky as it is a good back drop for the temple.

Bangkok Flower Market

Last weekend I visited the Flower Market in Bangkok.

Bangkok, flower market, temples, big swing, reclining buddhaI took the metro to the center of the city to visit some sites I had visited 20 years ago. When I reached the destination metro station I saw a lot of people carrying fresh flowers so I thought it might be interesting to visit the nearby Flower Market.

After the visit to the flower market I then went to explore a temple complex that I had visited twenty years ago.
