Wednesday Image Search – Old

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

Recently I completed my search for double vowels, except for sometimes ‘y’. There are very few ‘yy’ words, so I gave it a pass. Since I had so many images for some of the double vowels I did three editions of two of them.

Tonight I am moving on to something new so am searching for ‘old’.

These should be interesting. This is sometimes a word and sometimes part of a word.

What images will I find?

Girl holding chicken, barnyard, fowl, Iowa farmWith the first image we have a girl holding a chicken. This girl is one of my mom’s cousins in Iowa.

Old Fashioned Donuts, Donuts, National Doughnut DayThe second image is one of my favorite snacks. I really like old fashioned donuts.

Shy Kitten, Little kittens, Barn kittens, orchard, barn, farmNext we have a picture of a kitten on a threshold. I really like to watch kittens play.

California Gold BBQ Sauce, Mustard BBQ Sauce, Apricot Wood BBQThis California Gold BBQ sauce is really good. It goes really well with pulled pork.

Folding of flag, presentation of flag, honoring those who servedFinally, we have the folding of a flag. This was at my Great Uncle Fred’s funeral. He was an Army nurse and served our country for many years.

I had a lot of interesting pictures to choose from. I could have chosen a lot of old pictures, but decided to focus more on where old was part of a word instead of just a word.

Which is your favorite of these ‘old’ pictures?

What should I search for next? Perhaps I will search for something new.

Oak Island – Parchment?

Season 9 of The Curse of Oak Island is starting to get exciting.

In the episode tonight they showed more items removed from the second large can using the hammer grab tool. They also showed some items found on the wash table from the first can.

Curse of Oak Island, History Channel, Did they find anything? The most interesting find is a small piece of what was thought to be parchment. With a new scanning device they found that it may even have writing on it.

However when a higher resolution scan was run it seems that it is instead cellulose based and could possibly be part of the material used to wrap dynamite that was used during the FDR dig.

oak Island, Money Pit, Mahone BayMost of the episode showed the early hammer grabs from the 2nd can which was named Early Christmas 1. At the end they were just starting to pull wood from deep in the can. Some of the wood was most likely searcher as it was well squared and was not hand cut. However, they also started pulling up wood that was not squared and was much older. This would have likely been from the creation of the Money Pit.

Oak Island, Money Pit, National Geographic, Curse of Oak IslandThe large flat stone from the preview last week ended up being slate. This would not be something that would be found naturally on the Money Pit end of the island. The other end of the island has slate deposits. However, there is some thought that it could be a flagstone. A layer of flagstones was found in the initial excavations of the Money Pit.

Curse of Oak Island, Mahone Bay, Nova ScotiaThe metal detecting finds from last week along the possible route of the stone path were also evaluated and were found to most likely be pre-searcher.

oak island, curse of oak lsland, satellite, money pitThe preview for next week showed them pulling more wood from the 2nd can and finding a medium sized item that looked like possibly leather. Without too much context the year 1235 was mentioned. It will be interesting to see what is found deep in the 2nd can next week.
