Wednesday Image Search – Dus

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

After searching for ‘cus’ last week, I will search for ‘dus’ this week.

What images will I find?

Barn at Dusk - Winter Barn - Barn at Sunset - Backset - SilhouetteThe first image is a barn at dusk. This beautiful old barn is in the Central Valley of California.

All dust jackets, Happy Hollisters, Jerry WestHere is my complete set of Happy Hollister books that all have dust jackets. It took me a long time to find them in book stores. I could have easily acquired them through the internet, but would have missed the fun of finding them in different places.

dusk, cherries, orchard, cherry orchard, duskI try to have a food picture each week. Here are some cherries. The picture title was dusky cherries reflecting the time of day that I took the picture.

California and the Dust Bowl Migration - Walter J. Stein - Contributions in American History - Okies - Migration - Great DepressionHere is a book that I have at home in one of my to read piles. Someday I will read about the Dust Bowl Migration in California.

sheltering in place, dusk, sunset, contrails, silhouettesMost of the images that came up in the search had the same theme. They were taken at dusk. This one was taken while sheltering in place during the pandemic.

I didn’t have much variety to choose from for ‘dus’. I hope you enjoyed my choices.

Which is your favorite of these ‘dus’ pictures?

What should I search for next?  Perhaps I will extend the ‘?us’ series. Maybe ‘fus’? I don’t have  enough for ‘eus’ so it will be skipped.

Which Day is the End of Summer?

Which day is the end of summer? One of my calendars has Thursday and two of them have Friday? Which is correct?

I looked and found that it depends on where you live. If you are in Europe then the last day of summer is on Friday. The end of summer is marked by the solstice which happens just after midnight GMT. So, in all of the US it will still be Thursday when summer ends and fall begins.

In any case, we are approaching the end of summer for another year. .

back yard, fence, freshly mowed yardOf course summer means green grass if you have your sprinklers running in California, but you may have some brown spots.

Mowed Back yard, yard work, Electric Mower, Winter Green LawnWith fall on the way I should still have some nice green grass, but the trees will start to change color.

Fall Leaves, San Ramon, Fall Color, Autumn, Red and Yellow leavesI will also start to watch out for fall color as the leaves start to change with the cooler weather.

Beautiful Red Fall Leaves from Crawfordsville, Indiana - Lew Wallace Study MuseumI will be keeping my eye out for nice colorful leaves to take pictures of.

Yellow Rose, Rose Bush, Fall Color, November Color, November RosesOne thing I will definitely be looking forward to are fall roses. My roses have had a tough summer and since the weather has cooled I am starting to get some nice new blooms.

And of course, as summer is ending that means that my brother’s birthday is also approaching. I must remember to wish him a happy birthday.
