Do you remember when the Nintendo Game Boy came out?
I had just recently graduated from college when the Game Boy came out.
I remember playing it for the first time and how amazing it was to have a handheld device that could play different games. Of course, the price was a bit steep at close to $100 but I was starting my career and now had some extra money.
The first game I played was Tetris as it was what came with the device.
I soon bought the rechargeable battery pack so I didn’t have to keep buying batteries. It still works 🙂
I soon starting buying other games to play. These are the ones that were packed away with the game, but I am sure that I have some more of them tucked away somewhere. You can see that I even had one to teach me French. At one time I worked for a French company and tried to learn some of the language. I did have to go to Lyon, France once for training.
Amazingly the game still works, although it does have a line down the screen in one place. I could get it fixed, but I don’t plan on playing it.
I even still have the Owner’s Manual.
To me, it is just a nice memory to have. It is not worth too much. You can buy a refurbished one today for less than what they sold for back in 1989. However, it is nice have my original one which has greater nostalgic value.
