Throwback Thursday – Game Boy

Do you remember when the Nintendo Game Boy came out?

I had just recently graduated from college when the Game Boy came out.

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameI remember playing it for the first time and how amazing it was to have a handheld device that could play different games. Of course, the price was a bit steep at close to $100 but I was starting my career and now had some extra money.

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameThe first game I played was Tetris as it was what came with the device.

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameI soon bought the rechargeable battery pack so I didn’t have to keep buying batteries. It still works 🙂

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameI soon starting buying other games to play. These are the ones that were packed away with the game, but I am sure that I have some more of them tucked away somewhere. You can see that I even had one to teach me French. At one time I worked for a French company and tried to learn some of the language. I did have to go to Lyon, France once for training.

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameAmazingly the game still works, although it does have a line down the screen in one place. I could get it fixed, but I don’t plan on playing it.

Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy, Tetris, Video Games, Handheld Video GameI even still have the Owner’s Manual.

To me, it is just a nice memory to have. It is not worth too much. You can buy a refurbished one today for less than what they sold for back in 1989. However, it is nice have my original one which has greater nostalgic value.

What was your favorite Game Boy game?

Wednesday Image Search – Zar

Welcome to another Wednesday Image Search where I pick a string of letters or a word and share some of the images I find in an image search of the blog.

Last week I searched for ‘yar.’ This week I will proceed to ‘zar’ to bring this sequence to an end.

What images will I find?

Nazareth, scroll, reading, synagogueThe first image comes from Israel. I am reading a scroll in the Nazareth Village synagogue. This was during my first trip to Israel.

fire hazard, Birthday Cake, Candles, Canada Map, Birthday FeastThe next image was a birthday cake that was made for me some years ago. It only had three candles to make sure that it was not a fire hazard.

Lizard, friends, family, reptilesHere we have a little lizard.  This is a good size, not so big.

Tel-Hazor Lizard Stone HazorHere is another lizard at Hazor in the north of Israel. See: Hazor Lizard

Hazardous AQI, 500 AQI, Paradise. California, FiresFinally we have hazardous air quality in Paradise. The bad fires in Canada are bringing back memories of this disastrous summer we had several years ago here in California.

There were only few ‘zar’ pictures to choose from. I hope you enjoyed my selections.

Which is your favorite of these ‘zar’ pictures?

What should I search for next?  My series with ‘?ar’  is now over and I need to find a new sequence.
