Mint Chocolate CupCakes

This year Hostess came out with a special edition of Mint Chocolate CupCakes. I thought that these would be perfect for a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and had planned on posting about them on Saturday. However, my mind wandered elsewhere, so here is the post a few days late.

Mint Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess, St. Patrick's Day, Snack Cakes, Limited EditionI was actually a bit surprised that the box was not decorated for St. Patrick’s Day, but they did come out well in advance of the holiday so they must not have wanted to make the connection.

Mint Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess, St. Patrick's Day, Snack Cakes, Limited EditionHere you can see what awaited me as I opened the box. First impression was that the frosting was a bit sloppy. I also found this with the recent Strawberry CupCakes.

Mint Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess, St. Patrick's Day, Snack Cakes, Limited EditionThe top of the CupCake looked OK though.

Mint Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess, St. Patrick's Day, Snack Cakes, Limited EditionThe Mint Chocolate CupCakes looked like their picture. A nice white squiggle of frosting on a mint green background.

Mint Chocolate CupCakes, Hostess, St. Patrick's Day, Snack Cakes, Limited EditionOf course, the real question was whether they tasted good or not. The chocolate cake was nice, but I would have gone with a more intense mint taste. To me the balance of chocolate and mint was not what it needed to be to call it Mint Chocolate. It was more of just chocolate with green frosting.

What will be the next Limited Edition?

Chickens

A quick post about Chickens tonight.

I am up against my post deadline tonight as I have been reading a book that has been hard to put down. The last 300 pages of The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy have captivated me and kept me glued to the couch.

So, since I took some pictures of chickens today I thought I would share some of them.

Chicken Coop, Farm, Farmyard, Country LivingToday we had three little visitors at the orchard. One of the things that my friend David wanted to show them were the chickens. Here is one of the little girls checking out the chickens.

Farm Fresh Eggs, Brown Eggs, Country Eggs, ChickensHe also let them collect the eggs. It was definitely a new experience for them.

Chickens, Barnyard, Red Chickens, LayersI was trying to get some good closeup pictures of the chickens, especially of their heads. I was getting pretty close and then ………

Jumping Chicken, Closeup, startledthe chicken jumped up toward the lens of my camera. It startled me, but I got an interesting picture. Although it is not in focus, I got the closeup that I wanted 🙂

Roosters, wandering roosters, farm, orchard, cherry blossomsI also got a few pictures of some wandering roosters. The roosters belong to a neighbor down the road but they tend to spend more time at the orchard and think that it is sun-up most of the day. They are quite noisy.

Here they are just across in the neighboring cherry orchard which is slowly shedding blossoms and setting on fruit.

I also got quite a few pictures of bees and blossoms so perhaps you might see some of them soon.

Keep tuned…
