Last week I wrote a post about the Transcontinental Railroad and mentioned that I had not yet received a stamp that had been sent to me. See: The Transcontinental Railroad Final Link?
Last week I used a couple railroad stamps from my collection.
The first was to commemorate 125 years of Rail Transportation.
The second one honored railroad engineers.
I had scanned these two stamps about railroad history from my Stamp Collection.
Today I received the Transcontinental Railroad stamp in the mail along with some other ones that I had ordered.
Here you can see stamps ready to place in my album to complete this page.
Now that I have the 1944 stamp that commemorates the 75th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. I decided to share it to complement my post from last week.
The post last week was inspired by a colleague who gave me an old postcard of the Union Pacific Railway Bridge crossing the Missouri River.
The postcard also had an old stamp which made me think of a post I had written back in 2013. I had used the first two stamps in this post to illustrate it back then.
Since I have made a Return to Stamp Collecting, I have some ideas about how to use stamps to illustrate some new posts.
