Wind Blown Trees

Today it has been very windy and a tree down the street blew over. The winds were gusting to over 50 miles per hour. It has been very noisy with the wind. However, I heard some loud motor noises and went out to investigate.

Windy day, tree down, fallen tree, winter storm, tree clean upHere is what I saw. A tree down the block went down in the wind. You can also see the trees just above the truck blowing in the wind.

You can see a small tree just to the left where a tree blew down last April.

Windy day, tree down, fallen tree, winter storm, tree clean upYou can see that there were not any leaves on the tree that went down, but it has been surprising that it has not come down before as it was mostly dead last summer. It is probably good that it was not later in the year or more trees in the area would have gone down.

Tree down, tree trimming, windy, tree blown over, windy dayHere is a picture from last April when the one at the house next door came down. If you look just past the mailbox you can see the one that came down today.

Windy day, tree down, fallen tree, winter storm, tree clean upHere you can see the workers lining up the tree trunk to go into the grinder. You can see the remains of the stump just behind the mailbox.

Windy day, tree down, fallen tree, winter storm, tree clean upHere the grinder is pulling the tree in as it breaks it down. It was a bit noisy.

Windy day, tree down, fallen tree, winter storm, tree clean upIt is a powerful grinder to pull in the tree with all the branches intact. They soon had all the debris cleaned up and headed off to the next tree that had fallen. The winds are still gusting up to 30 mph and the ground is getting soggy with the rain. I am sure there are many more to be taken care of.

Thankfully, all my trees are still standing.
