The next destination on my Virtual Hike was Hardinsburg, Kentucky.
The previous destination on my virtual hike was Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
The first part of the route was through the suburbs as I headed north to hike by an interesting place.
Just north of Elizabethtown is Fort Knox. I am sure that some of you can name some movies that have Fort Knox in them. All of you most likely know that it is the Federal Gold Depository.
I then headed west and the route took me through Hogwallow. Back in the early 1900’s there was a community of about 50 people here that even had a newspaper. Can you imagine reading the Hogwallow Kentuckian?
I then continued on to Hardinsburg. I started this segment in Elizabethtown which is in Hardin County and ended up in Hardinsburg. Is there a connection?
Hardin County is named for Col. John Hardin and the town is named for his brother Capt. William Hardin.
I chose this destination as it was about halfway to the next location which has a family connection.
I will cross the Ohio River into Indiana by breaking my Virtual Hike rules. See: Breaking the Rules?
In Indiana I will virtually stop at several more places with family connections.
