With today being Pearl Harbor Day, I am thinking of a cousin who was married to the Commander of the Hickman Field Bomber Base at Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack by Japan.
I haven’t done a lot of research on General Jacob Rudolph yet, but know that he was very instrumental in the creation of what became the U.S. Air Force. The article above also shows a connection to the Wright Brothers, and I have see many mentions of him in aviation history. If someone knows of a good source, let me know.
General Jacob Rudolph was married to Vinnie Braman who was a second cousin of my great-grandfather Harvey Irvie Braman.
Here you see a portion of a chart that I made. Orsamus Braman is my 4th Great-Grandfather. My third Great-Grandfather Isaac died in Wisconsin at the age of 34 and his wife remarried and took two year old Joseph Harvey to Iowa, so there were no longer close connections to the family of Joseph Braman III who had moved to Milwaukee. You will find Joseph’s son Percy in the political history of Milwaukee.
In 1930 Jacob and Vinnie Rudolph lived only about 100 miles away from our family, but neither likely knew of the family connection or geographic proximity. I am sure that my Grandma would of told us about the connection to General Rudolph if she had known about it.
I am slowly piecing together the descendants of Orsamus Braman and am finding some interesting cousins. Orsamus had four daughters and the two sons (Isaac and Joseph).
