Late this month I will be wandering again. I guess I should say physically wandering, as my thoughts are always wandering.
Today I bought tickets for my first time away from home since we had to shelter in place in early 2020.
I am going somewhere that I haven’t been to for a long time. I will be heading to Bangkok to teach four courses over the span of two weeks. The only other time I was in Bangkok was back in December 2003, so almost 20 years ago.
The picture above was at Silom Village with a traditional Thai dancer. I look a bit younger in this picture.
Bangkok has some interesting temples, and I am sure I will visit some of them on this trip. However, I will have a better camera. This picture was taken with a camera that saved the images on a floppy disk.
It will be interesting to see the changes in the city as it has grown immensely in the last 20 years. I will be flying into a newer airport.
I am making a quick post tonight, but will probably go back through some of my old pictures over the next couple weeks and share some more of them.
I wonder if I will see this interesting elephant building on this trip?
The one thing that I will really look forward to on this trip is the food. This picture is not from Bangkok, but from my favorite Thai restaurant in North Ryde, Australia. I like Thai food, so am looking forward to meal times on the trip.
I took a quick look through some of the pictures I took 20 years ago and find that many of the students that I taught then are still working on the equipment that I teach. Some of them I see at least once a month in virtual meetings.
