I have seen several references today to National Watermelon Day, so I am going to share a slightly modified post from seven years ago.
As many of you know I have som great watermelon memories.
This first picture comes from my post Eating Watermelon. My Grandma’s cousin is enjoying a large slice of watermelon.
Watermelon is especially nice on a hot day when you have been working hard. This picture is from an archaeological dig at Lachish, Israel.
Watermelon break is my favorite time of day while on an archaeological dig. The delicious watermelon is so refreshing.
I am also remembering some of the beautiful watermelon art that I have seen in China through the years. This is common in China, but also some of the other Asian countries.
I may not always see watermelon art during my trips to Asia, but will usually be served watermelon during meals, especially when it is in season. When it is in season almost every meal will have watermelon included. I am looking forward to some great watermelon during my next trip to Asia.
When do you like to eat watermelon? Is it a Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner food?
Steven
