This has been a busy week and I am glad that the weekend is finally here. Although today was a busy day I got a lot accomplished toward getting ready for my next trip. I also had a nice end to the day as I was getting water and ice for my commute home.
Besides a couple of meetings one of my big tasks for the day was to make hotel reservations. I am staying where I want for most of the trip, but one of the hotels I wanted to stay at had ridiculous prices for some reason. Oh well, the backup hotel will give me more exercise 🙂 as it is not as close to everything and I will need to walk more.
Luckily the hotel I like to stay at in Germany was available as it has wonderful breakfast.
Since it is Friday, the commute was not too nice. When I got home I had a nice dinner of one of my comfort foods and then made myself some nice tea.
While I waited for the kettle to whistle I got the tea ready to brew.
Tonight I pulled out my Lapsang Souchong tea which has a nice smoky scent and flavor.
The Lapsang Souchong tea that I have is loose leaf so I had to use one of my infuser mugs.
Here you can see the rich color of the tea after it has brewed. Some of the tea leaves made it through the infuser to the bottom of the mug, but I just have to be careful drinking the last bit.
What is really wonderful about this tea is the nice smoky scent. I have memories of campfires and wood smoke when I drink it. The tea leaves are dried over fires made of pine which impart the smoky flavor and scent.
The smell of the tea really enhances the taste. As you get to the bottom of the mug and the smell diminishes the taste also diminishes. It reminds me that scent can be very important to taste.
After my long walk tonight I may need to have another mug of tea.
