This evening one of my recent book acquisitions caught my eye as I walked by my to read stacks.
Just by looking at the title, what do you think this book is about.
Many of you probably thought of The Mercury Seven astronauts, and that is exactly what this book is about.
The book is a series of personal narratives written by the Mercury Seven astronauts.
The back flyleaf of the book has pictures of the Mercury Seven astronauts.
- M. Scott Carpenter
- L. Gordon Cooper, Jr.
- John H. Glenn, Jr.
- Virgil I. Grissom
- Walter M. Schirra, Jr.
- Alan B. Shepard, Jr.
- Donald K. Slayton
Here is another picture that comes from a newspaper clipping that was saved by my Grandma. See my post: The Mercury Seven
I look forward to reading this book as I have always enjoyed following the space program. At one time when I was young I wanted to be an astronaut. Of course, there were many other things I wanted to be 🙂
Walter M. Schirra, Jr. is also interesting to me as at one time I lived on Schirra Street in Omaha.
Now back to the Olympics.
